The National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education has produced a series of eight publications providing national guidelines for environmental education. The guidelines help promote the quality materials, instruction, and professional development needed to support student learning and increase environmental literacy. Because the guidelines were developed with input from thousands of educators, administrators, and curriculum specialists across the country, they represent a broad consensus on what is good environmental education.

Educators will be pleased to know that the learner guidelines presented in Guidelines for Learning (K-12) are linked to the national standards set by professional education organizations of several academic disciplines. The guidelines are now available online at www.naaee.org/npeee.
